Systemic Thinking is nothing new. It underlies the laws of nature. A Chinese medicine doctor and a naturopath for example sees the patient’s body as a system. They don’t treat the symptoms alone but rather they help the patient balance the system from a deeper and more holistic level.
Systems thinking and a systemic approach focuses on the way that a system’s constituent parts interrelate and how systems work over time and within the context of larger systems. The systemic thinking approach contrasts with traditional analysis which studies the parts that make up the system.
Systemic thinking is used in any area of research and diagnosis today and has been applied to the study of biological, environmental, societal, human resources, and educational systems, among many others.
Participants of this workshop will exercise using their “systemic lens” to think and sense with their body, and to get immediate insight.
The Systemic Coaching and Constellation Method
Various modalities including coaching, NLP and Constellation would be employed in this work and issues will be approached with a “systemic” lens.
“Constellation” in this sense has nothing to do with astrology. It refers to the Organisational Constellation method, which is an innovative methodology used to access information from the subconscious (“morphic field” or shared memory) of organisations and thus revealing hidden dynamics. This methodology has been applied in Europe especially for solving problems and providing insights for corporations, non-profits, educational institutions and governmental bodies. It is also applied for environmental and societal issues.

The origin of “systemic constellation” work is family therapy.
Systemic (Family) Constellation was first developed by the German psychotherapist, Bert Hellinger in the late 1980s and has continued to evolve and has been used successfully to resolve deep issues not resolved through conventional reductionistic psychotherapy.
The principles in Systemic (Family) Constellation have nothing to do with morals, but they have emerged from what has shown up again and again in many constellation processes facilitated.
For example, exclusion of family members in the family (e.g.“black sheep” in the family, divorce, given away for adoption, unacknowledged abortion, miscarriages, suicides, etc) may cause an imbalance and a misplaced identification by someone in the family system whether they have met or not, and sometimes generations later. We call the phenomenon entanglement.
Another cause of entanglement* on the intuitive and transgenerational level can be that of victim and perpetrator – on the personal even national level. The observations from thousands of constellations seem to confirm the laws of “karma” as well, without the determinism.
(We do not use the word “entanglement” in a way that implies it’s a “mistake”. It is neutral. Another name is “hidden patterns” – and they exist to continue the system. The conflicts between the needs of different levels of conscience create these “patterns”.)
There are more parallel than differences in the hidden principles that operate between family system and other systems. The first organisational constellation was conducted around 20 years ago in Europe. Since then facilitators have continued to develop in this innovative field.

Dr Rupert Sheldrake’s extensive work postulates how information and experience appear to be transferable outside of time and space. In Systemic (Family) Constellation, the shared memory of systems is also referred to as the “Knowing Field”. In this quantum space, layers and layers of information exist and whether we are aware or not, a part of us exists in this space and interacts with it all the time.
The work of modern quantum physicists confirms the existence of the interconnected consciousness field that transcends space and time and how human emotions, thoughts and intentions contribute to it.
Just as physical symptoms in our body call our attention to look at the root causes and to restore balance, challenges in our family/organisation/society system can call our attention to look at what might be out of balance until balance is restored.
This is why people who go through the Systemic (Family) Constellation with openness can experience profound shifts in many areas in their lives that they may not even have expected. Unexplained blockages dissolve, destructive behaviours such as addiction, suicidal thoughts, etc change; more clarity emerges, as one dissolve the deeper causes for their challenges.

Those who have experienced Systemic (Family) Constellation often find the experiential process fascinating, profound or profoundly touching, and the insights they gain from the experience surprising and spot on.
Systemic Constellation is an experiential and somatic process. “Somatic” means of the body. We are accessing embodied information of the system(s) we are working on.
In a group workshop. it takes place in a group with about 10 (or can be more) participants sitting in a circle. There is usually a warm up process with experiential exercises.
For clients who want to present their issue, the process begins where the client determines together with the facilitator elements they want to look at. The client is then asked to intuitively ask participants to represent those elements inside the circle. The client does it by simply following their body’s impulse. After everyone is placed, the client takes a seat and observes. The representatives begin to feel like the people or elements they are representing and providing information that otherwise is inaccessible. The facilitator may also invite representatives and decide together with the client what elements to be represented.
The facilitator would guide the client to witness what emerges. Experiential intervention would be suggested by the facilitator and the client will follow or adapt. Often though, simply by seeing what emerges already gives the client a lot of information and insights.
A client who asks for a short constellation would have a shorter process but the process is essentially similar. Some issues require a shorter process and some longer.
For everyone who participates, they exercise their subtle intuitive senses. Being a representative is a somatic experience. You learn to go inward, sense and feel what comes through. This is what we do everyday anyway, but in the workshop, this is done consciously and with purpose.
Representatives are chosen intuitively for having similar “resonance” with what they represent and the facilitated processes often touch them on a deeper level as well, giving them relevant and powerful insights.
Systemic Constellation can also be conducted in private one-on-one session, or be incorporated in coaching and healing (which we also offer).
All participants will experience warm up exercise(s). It is easier to do than one imagine.
To be able to tap into the morphogenic field or the Knowing Field is our innate ability, it’s similar to the ability to sense someone is staring at us from our back, or the telepathic experience of thinking about calling someone and they call. Pet owners are often amazed how their pets seem to know they are coming home long before they are physically at the door. Biologist Dr Rupert Sheldrake’s works explain these phenomena and more.
Anyone who has been a Systemic Constellation representative will tell you that as they step into their place in the Constellation and just trust “the field”, they start to sense movement and urges that are not their own, while they are fully conscious. Whatever that asks for completion and resolution is information in “the field”.
Through the experiential exercises in the workshop, you will learn fascinating ways in tapping into the “information field” and become more in touch with your “intuition”. You do not need to be a “case-giver”. Everyone will experience those exercises. The exercises are designed with specific theme.
Furthermore, if you become a representative in someone’s case, you will also have first hand experience in developing your perception that is beyond the five senses.
With practice, you will develop stronger perception and confidence in your “intuition” that you can apply in everyday decision making.
You will also learn to develop your “systemic perception” – it is like trying on a new lens. You will expand your perception and approach your life differently that will very likely bring you more inspiration, peace and connect you with your inner wisdom.
We apply this work in coaching, in solving personal issues, in helping business and non-profit organisations to resolving underlying issues such as succession, trauma and transformation. We also use it to test market response, in guiding best decisions, in periodic “organisational health check”.
Constellation is being successfully applied in looking into root causes of health challenges and in bringing about life-changing healing as well.

An effective Constellation facilitator is non-judgemental, compassionate, creative, grounded, and someone who never stops doing their own inner work. Especially in organisational constellation (which has a lot more variables than family constellation) they need to have organisational and leadership experience, and exercise their analytical as well as intuitive perception equally well.
